National Academy of Sciences

A private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars established by an Act of Congress. In 1968, the NAS was asked by the USAF to independently review the University of Colorado's UFO study (the Condon Report). The NAS panel endorsed the report's methodology and its conclusion that further extensive study of UFOs was not scientifically justified.

Endorsed the Condon Report, providing the scientific justification for the USAF to close Project Blue Book.
