Dr. Lincoln LaPaz was a prominent American astronomer and pioneer in the study of meteoritics at the University of New Mexico. During the late 1940s and 1950s, he was frequently employed by the US military to investigate anomalous aerial phenomena, most notably the 'green fireballs' seen over the American Southwest. He is also widely associated with early military efforts to calculate the trajectories of unidentified objects to determine their origins.
