North American T-6 Texan

The North American T-6 Texan (designated AT-6 by the USAAF) was a single-engine advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots of the United States Army Air Forces, Navy, and Royal Air Force. Because it was widely distributed among Air National Guard and training units in the late 1940s and 1950s, T-6 pilots were frequently in the air and occasionally dispatched to investigate local UFO sightings.

Used extensively by the USAF and Air National Guard, T-6 pilots occasionally reported or were dispatched to investigate UAP sightings in the 1950s.
