Also: B-36
The Convair B-36 Peacemaker was a strategic bomber operated by the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1959. As the primary nuclear weapons delivery vehicle of the early Strategic Air Command (SAC), it was a massive, distinctive aircraft with both piston and jet engines. B-36 flights were occasionally involved in UAP encounters, and the aircraft itself was sometimes misidentified by civilians as a flying saucer due to its unusual sound and high-altitude contrails.
Operated during the height of the 1950s UFO wave, B-36 bombers were both witnesses to UAP encounters and the cause of civilian misidentifications.
