The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) was a prominent civilian UFO research organization active from the 1950s to the 1980s. Led for many years by Major Donald E. Keyhoe, NICAP advocated for congressional hearings on UFOs and pushed back against the Air Force's dismissive Project Blue Book conclusions. The organization gathered thousands of credible reports from pilots and military personnel, making it a major force in early UFOlogy.
The most influential civilian UFO advocacy group of the mid-20th century, heavily pushing for government transparency and congressional hearings.
