Formerly an independent nuclear weapons installation in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sandia Base was the principal nuclear weapons installation of the United States Department of Defense before being merged into Kirtland AFB. Its highly classified operations made the frequent UFO sightings in its airspace a matter of intense concern for military intelligence. Security personnel frequently reported anomalous lights and objects over the facility.
A top-secret atomic facility whose airspace was frequently violated by unexplained aerial phenomena in the late 1940s and 1950s.
